* TED-20 Rover V8 Modification
Posted on June 24th, 2014 by ploughmyfield. Filed under General.
This isn’t what I’d do to a Ferguson TED-20 as I like mine as original as possible. That said I can admire the engineering skill involved in swapping the engine and making it all work and look fantastic. Maybe his old engine didn’t work? I’ll let Mike Robertson tell you all about his TED conversion. I appreciate this is right up some readers street and what they’d like to do with their Fergusons, Great Job Mike.
“It’s a 1951 TED-20 with a Rover 3500cc v8 engine coupled into the standard gearbox and back end, bonnet has been extended by 16 inches to take in the engine and ancillaries but I have kept it as original as I could battery tray, fuel tank(bit shorter), toolbox , dash only extra on there is a small rev counter, all engine instruments converted to Ferguson instruments water temp and oil pressure, two K and N filters bonnet fitted with gas struts.
It sound amazing and will do around 60 mph in under 6 seconds from a rolling start.
I have attached more pictures to get a better view.”
* Restoration project anyone?

[update] SOLD
Sorry to anyone interested these tractors have now been sold. It would be nice to take a picture of them once they have been restored.
I’ve been contacted by Warrick who is trying to sort out a friends estate who due to ill health will be unable to continue working on his land. Warrick contacted me with a number of items he is looking for good homes as restoration projects. He’s keen for the tractors NOT to be broken up. As I understand the engine turns over on the staring handly. One has a MIL loader fitted to it. If you are interested or would like more information please send me an email or leave a comment.
Tractor No.1
Tractor No. 2
Tyres
He also Has some very original looking tyres but what tractor they came from I don’t know they are 12×24
* Check out the Barn
Posted on December 20th, 2012 by ploughmyfield. Filed under General.
Last weekend the Family was in Durham at a 1st Birthday party. Why am I telling you this? We had to make a stop at Beamish Museum and as we where waiting in the staff car park I spotted a new barn being built. The barn wasn’t that interesting apart from thinking what Ferguson things you could put in it when it is finished. No, the contents were far more important. I know they have one ferguson tractor (the one behind) as I fitted a MIL loader to it. It looks as though there is a second and from the front and back wheels an early model. The pictures below were as close as I got (For now) a closer inspection and report when we are up there at some point over christmas. Seb would you like to comment, Beamish Transport Online, not really your thing but would you like to comment?

* Roy’s TED Update
Posted on January 12th, 2011 by ploughmyfield. Filed under General.
Since Roys last post,
He and Ted, another Friend, have been busy. Ted has been working on the cylinder head, which looks so different from a TEF cylinder head. Ted has bought a tool to re-cut the valve seats for the new inlet valves that Ted managed to get hold of for Roy. He has then re ground, by hand I think, the valved into the seats.
Roy popped round with the head to say happy new year and I had a chance to take a couple of pics.
Roy then got busy adding the valve springs.
Roy’s tractor is located some distance away at his Daughters house so he doesn’t get chance to work on it all the time. Instead he unbolts what he can and brings it home to his garage and does what is needed on the parts then returns it. In this case it’s the radiator. Now Roy has the head back together it’s off to his Daughters to work in his shed for a couple of days. Hopefully by the end he should have a working tractor.
Was down with the Tractor late Thurs to Friday finished the painting, apart from under the bonnet. Reassembled the head but no time to set up the carb and ignition to run smoothly will be down again near the end of the month.

13th December
Hi Tim,
The photo’s are from the last few days as you can see the axle pin is fixed firm to the cradle but does have some wear on the pin and the bush is not to bad. I tried a heavy hammer with a large bolt in the pin. I tried to knock it out with no luck so decided to leave as is.

Hi Tim, ordered parts from Silver Fox yesterday arrived today with 10% discount I quoted offer EBAY10. I prefer to go direct than eBay. NEW PARTS DO LOOK GOOD.
