Hi Tim,

Happy new year to all,

The toolbox is fitted, the difference from the original and this reproduction one is the holes are central in the repro, but it fits ok.

* Roy’s Manifold

Posted on December 1st, 2011 by ploughmyfield. Filed under General.

As with the case on all Ferguson tractors things wear out. The threads on  Roy’s manifold studs were worn  so he decided to replace both, but the metal studs had become part of the manifold very rusty so cut them  off and drilled holes to suit the  tap.  I hope you used the correct size Roy!

* Roy’s Toolbox

Posted on November 24th, 2011 by ploughmyfield. Filed under General.

From the 2011 Newark Tractor show Roy bought a toolbox for his TED-20. It should be mounted on the left side of the battery carrier frame just in front of the dashboard.

Rather than looking for an original toolbox Roy was happy to purchase a replica. He chose the offering from Patrick, and got a great show deal. Tip: Not only will you save Postage & Packaging buy buying at a show (offsetting the entry price) getting your parts from a show also offers you the opportunity to look at and feel the items and check it’s quality and suitability. You can’t do that when buying over the internet. There is also the probability that the seller may have an atractive show offer available making it cheaper than buying normally.

All the reproduction toolboxes Roy and I saw at the show have the lid hinge running the full length of the box, unlike the original toolboxes. Another feature of the original box saw the catch was riveted on as opposed to welded with the modern box. Oh yet and the modern one is painted red.

“The bolt holes on the original where off to othe right side. This box has then centrally positioned. When fitting if it fouls the dashboead I’ll drill some more holes offsett.” Roy commented

So Roy also bought two copper rivets and has added them to his new toolbox to make it look a bit more authentic.

And he’s made a great job of painting it grey

Nice job Roy, I wait for the photo from Roy of the toolbox fitted to his tractor.

* Roy’s TED Update

Posted on January 12th, 2011 by ploughmyfield. Filed under General.

Since Roys last post,

He and Ted, another Friend, have been busy. Ted has been working on the cylinder head, which looks so different from a TEF cylinder head. Ted has bought a tool to re-cut the valve seats for the new inlet valves that Ted managed to get hold of for Roy. He has then re ground, by hand I think, the valved into the seats.

Roy popped round with the head to say happy new year and I had a chance to take a couple of pics.

Roy then got busy adding the valve springs.

Roy’s tractor is located some distance away at his Daughters house so he doesn’t get chance to work on it all the time. Instead he unbolts what he can and brings it home to his garage and does what is needed on the parts then returns it. In this case it’s the radiator. Now Roy has the head back together it’s off to his Daughters to work in his shed for a couple of days. Hopefully by the end he should have a working tractor.

Roys Painted Radiator

Was down with the Tractor late Thurs to Friday finished the painting, apart from under the bonnet.  Reassembled the head but no time to set up the carb and ignition to run smoothly will be down again near the end of the month.

Hi Tim,
The photo’s are from the last few days as you can see the axle pin is fixed firm to the cradle but does have some wear on the pin and the bush is not to bad. I tried a heavy hammer with a large bolt in the pin. I tried to knock it out with no luck so decided to leave as is.
